Introduction

There has been a long desire to view cross section data files easily, especially as cross sections are updated or compared to each other. FUDGE, a Python code, was developed to view and modify ENDL data. FUDGE is very successful, but it has a strong dependence on platform to view the data. In addition, it required the users to run simple Python scripts. So there was still a need for viewing the data across the internet as well as keeping it simple for the end user.

There was a Nuclear Data System (NDS 2000) already in place, but it was very rigid, slow and not user friendly. So the idea of upgrading the NDS project and tieing it to FUDGE was born. The new system, NADS (Nuclear and Atomic Data System), is a Java Applet that connects to a FUDGE server. The benefits of this arrangement are
